Our journalists

Every story on Radder the Cladder is written by a named reporter with a patch of their own, from fire safety regulation to material prices and contractor finances.

Helen McCarthy

She writes on contractor finances, market activity and the pipeline of work reaching roofing and facade firms, and edits everything Radder the Cladder publishes.

Daniel O'Brien, Deputy Editor at Radder the Cladder

Daniel O'Brien

Rachel Thornton, Technology and Estimating Reporter at Radder the Cladder

Rachel Thornton

Technology and Estimating Reporter

Rachel writes on the software and site technology changing how work is measured, priced and managed, from estimating platforms to drone survey and offsite manufacture. She reports on what the tools cost and whether they earn their keep.

Gareth Pryce, Senior Reporter at Radder the Cladder

Gareth Pryce

Senior Reporter

Gareth spent fifteen years on the tools as a roofer in south Wales before turning to reporting. He covers breaking industry news, insolvencies and the day-to-day realities of working on the roof, and is usually first to a story about a contractor in difficulty.
